After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no fuller on earth could bleach them. Then Elijah appeared to them along with Moses, and they were conversing with Jesus. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, Rabbi, it is good that we are here! Let us make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. He hardly knew what to say, they were so terrified. Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them; then from the cloud came a voice, This is my beloved Son. Listen to him. Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone but Jesus alone with them. -The 4th Luminous Mystery

Our Lady of Lourdes

Question from aaron on 2/17/2008:
Dear Fr. Bob Levis,

As this year is the 150 anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady to St. Bernadette Soubirous, the Pope has announced a plenary indulgences to those who devoutly remember Mary's messages (convert that includes praying for conversion of all sinners, pray and do penance) at Lourdes. The Pope also asked us to perform a charitable work or action to gain a plenary indulgence, to go to a Church where the image of Our Lady of Lourdes is honored, offer one Our Father or one Hail Mary for the Pope's intentions, and perform some pious act of devotion to Mary.

Here are my questions:

1. By saying the Rosary, is it a pious act of devotion to Mary?

2. Are there particular dates we can do what the Pope said i.e. on any anniversary of the 18 apparitions or can we do it any time we want during 2008 or only on Feb. 11/2008?

I found this out only on the night of Feb. 13 and I really want to do this. I hope I didn't miss it.

Fr. Bob Levis, thank you very much for all your help and God bless.
Answer by Fr. Robert J. Levis on 2/18/2008:
Aaron, Surely the Rosary is a perfect prayer highly recommended by the Pope for this Plenary Indulgence and any date is perfect. Fr.Bob Levis
