Adult Baptism alone

Question from curious on 1/9/2008:
Is it possible for an adult to receive the sacrament of Baptism without also receiving the other sacraments (Penance, Eucharist, and Confirmation)? 'Tom' attends mass every Sunday and participates in all ways with the exception of receiving Communion. He attended RCIA last year but did not complete the process. It bothers him not to be baptised but he is not ready to 'go all the way' in his conversion process but would instead like to take it 'one step at a time'. Is this possible? Thank you and God bless!
Answer by Rev. Mark J. Gantley, JCL on 2/4/2008:
No. The "steps" along the way are period of inquiry, becoming a catechumen, rite of election, etc.

Baptism, confirmation, and first Holy Communion must be celebrated together for an adult.

Penance would be celebrated later since baptism washes away sin.
