Question from Anonymous on 2/10/2008:
Dear Father, I know this is the Doctrine Forum, but the other bins were full. God Bless your ministry.
Is it a sin if I was asked (by the priest) to become a Eucharistic Minister and I do not want to do it for varying reasons? (It is just not my calling.) We do help out with the 'quieter' contributions, Lenten Appeal, RFFH, etc. Our parish is full of people who help with all the various aspects of parish duties; so I imagine finding new Eucharistic Ministers will not be a problem.
Would it be saying 'no' to God?
Thank you for your reply.

Anon, You refuse to accept this position, I hope for a very good reason. I hope you talked this over with a spiritual director since it is a rich source of grace and merit for you. Of course, you might have a good reason.Fr. Bob Levis
