Burial in Catholic cemetary

Question from elizabeth Custer on 1/16/2008:
why could my non catholic father-in-law be buried in the same consecrated ground, side by side with his devoutly Irish Catholic wife when all his life he expressed disdain for the church? The Church wouldn't Bury him but they let him in for a memorial service & was that service, presided over by a priest, catholic or generic? Thank you...MANY more questions to come from this former Old School Catholic girl!
Answer by Fr. Jay Toborowsky on 2/13/2008:
The rules for who may or may not be buried in a Catholic cmemtery have certainly been "up for grabs" in the past decades, and in my 6 years of seminary studies and 10 years of priesthood I have never seen a clear set of guidelines.

Your question would best be asked at the source of the decision, rather than asking another priest what he thinks about another priest's decision.
