Priest attire

Priest attire

Question from on 06-04-2007:

At our church, our priest does wear his collar, but he wears black
boots instead of black shoes. We have posters from the vocation office
that clearly show a picture of black shoes and ask young people if they
are called to fill these shoes. Is it not correct that as part of their
priestly garb that priests are required to wear black shoes? I know
that you would tell me the proper answer. If I'd ask another priest,
he'd only defend this priest's unholy actions.

Pat--

So far as I know, there is no rule
that states a priest must wear black shoes instead of black boots.
Certainly there is nothing "unholy" about a priest wearing black boots.
The vocations office poster likely is speaking metaphorically, not
literally.
