Why go through RCIA

Why go through RCIA
Question from Pam on 5/5/2008:

Hi Father, My brother-in-law is not Catholic. He attends mass regularly with his wife and family, and remains seated during communion. He wants to receive, but I told him he needs to go through RCIA first. He wants to know why go through RCIA, when he believes that it is the body and blood of Jesus? What can I tell him about the reasons that RCIA is necessary for him to become Catholic and receive? God bless you for your help.
Answer by Fr. Robert J. Levis on 5/6/2008:

Pam, He must learn not only about the Eucharist but all about the Catholic Faith and the Sacraments. This takes study and some time. Insist on the RCIA. Fr. Bob Levis
