New Seven Deadly Sins...?
Question from Anonymous on 3/10/2008:
I recently read in an article of a newspaper that the church has added a new seven deadly sins to the preexisting ones. Is this true? If so, could you direct me to a source that tells more about this subject?
Answer by David Gregson on 5/5/2008:
The secular press is less interested in reporting the truth about the Church than in making waves to shake Catholics. The traditional list of seven deadly sins is still in place. The so-called new list, proposed by Bishop Gianfranco Girotti, Regent of the Tribunal of the Apostolic Penitentiary, doesn't replace the old one, which is far more fundamental. Rather, it exposes "sinful attitudes" of which the Church has become increasing aware in recent years. See the ZENIT report, Littering Not New Deadly Sin, Bishops Clarify.
