donating organs

donating organs
Question from on 05-02-2007:
is it okay to donate blood? when we die is it okay to donate our organs to someone who may need it? if we did, what happens when jesus returns for all of us? i think that since jesus was intact when he came back from death that it sets the example for us and that when we die we also have to be complete body-wise.
Answer by Fr.Stephen F. Torraco on 05-03-2007:
It is morally permissible to donate organs to other persons(with the exception of the brain and the gonads)either as a living donor (as long as the donation does not endanger your own health and life) or as a deceased person. Such donations are not an impediment to the resurrection.
