Wedding Mass
Question from Henry on 8/15/2008:
Father Jay stated that a wedding mass on Saturday afternoon would not fulfill the Sunday obligation becasue the readings would probably not be proper to the Sunday. However, isn't it true that attendance at a liturgy of any Catholic church on Saturday after 4 p.m. fulfills Sunday obligation? It could be a wedding, a liturgy in an Eastern Catholic Church (different readings), a "votive mass", etc. This was discussed recently in the Canon Law forum.
Answer by Fr. Jay Toborowsky on 8/15/2008:
This is the "spirituality" forum, and not the "Liturgy" or "canon law" forum, so I came at it from the spirituality point of view in explaining about the readings.
