Reception of Holy Communion by Orthodox Christians

Question from Anna Del on 3/26/2008:

Hi Father:

Are Orthodox Christians allowed to receive Holy Communion from us? I and another volunteer from our church bring Holy Communion to the Catholic residents of a nursing home every other week and I just found out last week that one resident who has been eagerly receiving Holy Communion from me for the past year is Orthodox.

What do I do next time?

Best regards,

Anna

Answer by Rev. Mark J. Gantley, JCL on 3/31/2008:
An Orthodox person is permitted to receive our Holy Communion upon his or her request.

This does not mean that their Church permits them to receive our Holy Communion.

But there is no problem with you giving the person Holy Communion.
