is the church (catholic) perfect.

is the church (catholic) perfect.
Question from david salazar on 5/9/2008:

A good friend pointed out that our church is not perfect therefore church (giving credibility for others to open their own church) is of error. I tryed explaining that members in the church may at times be in error or corrupt but the church is perfect because it is the bride of christ. how best should I have explained that Jesus Christ established the one true church. just because members screw up does not mean the church is flawed.
Answer by Fr. John Echert on 5/9/2008:

You are absolutely correct in making this distinction, between the institutional aspect of the Church composed of sinful members and the Mystical Church. Even within the person of the pope, he is personally fallible but protected when it comes to guiding the Church in matters of faith and morals.

Thanks, David

Father Echert
