St. Therese, the Little Flower

Question from Linda on 9/21/2007:

The other day we vaguely heard a priest saying something about St. Therese. We have been unable to find any candles and prayer books of her lately. My mother has a devotion to her, and she was hoping that they didn't take away her sainthood like St. Christopher.

Answer by Catholic Answers on 9/21/2007:

Linda--

One, St. Christopher is still a saint. His feast day was simply removed from the universal calendar of the Latin rite. However, those with a devotion to him are still free to honor him.

Two, St. Therese's status in the Church has only grown in recent years, not decreased. In 1997, in the centenary year of her death, she was named a Doctor of the Church. You can find materials on St. Therese at this site.
