Papal envoys named to Fatima, Reims anniversary celebrations

Vatican, Oct. 1, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) has appointed the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone (bio - news), to be his representative at ceremonies in Fatima, Portugal, marking the 90th anniversary of the Marian apparitions there. Cardinal Bertone will lead a 5-man delegation to the ceremonies, which are being held at the Fatima shrine on Ocober 12 and 13. The Holy Father has appointed Cardinal Godfried Danneels of Brussels as his envoy to October 7 ceremonies in Reims, France, marking the 1,000th anniversary of the basilica there.
