God Bless America?

Dear Judy,
This morning I went to Mass and, like every July 4th, we sang "God Bless America."
I find this song increasingly difficult to sing; or sing and mean it.
After all, America is a country that slaughters 1.3 million babies in the womb, year after year, and relatively few Americans seem to care.
Is America truly a blessed country?
Is America truly worthy of God’s blessings?
If so, what does a country not worthy of God’s blessings look like?
After all, not even Hitler and Stalin killed as many as have been killed in America.

Dear Rich
I would have to agree with you and hesitate to claim pride in a nation that oversees the mass slaughter America is responsible for. God has blessed America, and in return we have turned our back on Him. And as Mother Teresa said, "The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion."
