Adoration and Benediction
Question from Rocco Colantuono on 3/4/2008:
Hi Father Bob,
Every Friday, my parish has Adoration in the Morning and Benediction in the evening. Due to work, I can only attend Benediction in the evening. On Friday's the Blessed Sacrament is exposed.
However, I stop at my church and spend about an hour visting the Blessed Sacrament, meditating and saying other prayers, like the Rosary.
The last couple of visits, when no one else is present, and which are not on a Friday, but other days during the week, I was drawn to sing in Latin, both the Adoration and Benedition, followed by the Divine Praises before ending my vist singing Holy God we Praise thy Name.
My concern though is being a lay person, am I permitted to do this? Or, is this something I should ask my parish priest?
My parish priest is hard to get a hold of and there is always somebody else with him and I want to keep the converation private.
Thank you
Rocco
Answer by Fr. Robert J. Levis on 3/5/2008:
Rocco, Keep it up, there is no reason why you can't worship by yourself in song. God bless you. Fr. Bob Levis
