On the 3rd day He rose from the dead

Question from Veronica on 3/20/2008:

Since Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday and if He died on Good Friday, why is it considered 3 days later? Isn't that only 2 days. How do they figure.

Veronica, The 3 days of entombment are 1. Good Friday evening, 2. Holy Saturday, and 3. Sunday morning. Fr. Bob Levis

    But Matthew 12:40 says "...so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." How does Fri evening, Sat & Sun morn add to three days AND three nights??
