Four canonizations set for October ceremony

Vatican, Mar. 3, 2008 (CWNews.com) - Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) will preside at the canonization of four new saints on October 12.

At a consistory on March 1, the Holy Father approved plans for the canonization of:

Blessed Gaetano Errico (1791- 1860), an Italian priest;
Blessed Maria Bernarda Butler (1848-1924), a Swiss nun;
Blessed Alfonsa of the Immaculate Conception (1910- 1946), born Anna Muttathupandathu, an Indian nun; and
Blessed Narcisa de Jesus Martillo Moran (1833- 1869), an Ecuadorian lay woman.
