Gospel Reading at Mass

Question from Betty Lampitt on 10/28/2007:

Our Pastor did now read the Gospel at mass yesterday. He permitted three (3) grade-school children to "take parts" in reading the Gospel. I was flabbergasted. Is this something new - that lay people read the Gospel?

Answer by Rev. Mark J. Gantley, JCL on 11/2/2007:

Isn't that cute? Maybe he'll let them read the words of consecration also. Then it'll not only be illicit but also invalid.

  1. I am a widow getting remarried in October. I'm trying to select the gospel reading for our Wedding Mass. Any suggestions for something that is upbeat, and appropriate for an older couple (in our 50's) who don't plan to have children together (smile), would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, MD
